It\u2019s a call for celebration as \u200biNYALA 2019 <\/strong>had successfully concluded its first light art installation exhibition and presented five awards after a highly competitive judging process by the industry professionals on last Sunday, 1 December 2019 at REXKL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following an open call to the local higher education institutions in July 2019 garnering artistic proposals that best represents the theme \u201c\u200bImagine the Impossible<\/strong>\u200b\u201d with sustainability practice, nine teams of students emerged as the finalists. Each finalist team was assigned an allotted amount of RM1,500 to execute their final artworks to be exhibited at a month-long exhibition at REXKL from 1 \u2013 30 November 2019 and eventually determine 5 winning teams of different award categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The finalists\u2019 artworks comprising \u200bReverse Rain Box <\/strong>by Unison Indra (UCSI University); Uniarea <\/strong>by Creaters (Dasein Academy of Art); \u200bDigital Shui <\/strong>by H2O (MMU); \u200bIcosahedron <\/strong>by BIMDs (The One Academy); \u200bMindforest <\/strong>by CD-rw (Dasein Academy of Art); \u200bCocoon Made Me Do It <\/strong>by Ramai-Ramai (MMU); \u200bTime Machine <\/strong>by Sue Ann (Raffles College of Higher Education); \u200bSwing Beyond <\/strong>by BIMDs (The One Academy); and \u200bNO\u00c9L<\/strong>\u200b by ODRANO\u00c9L (UCSI University).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are five awards including \u200bBest of Show <\/strong>\u200b(Cash Prize: RM8,000), \u200bBest Use of Technology <\/strong>(Cash Prize: RM3,000), \u200bBest Visual Appearance <\/strong>(Cash Prize: RM3,000), \u200bBest Inspiration <\/strong>(Cash Prize: RM3,000) and \u200bCrowd Favorite <\/strong>\u200b(Cash Prize: RM2,000).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iNYALA presented the awards in recognition of the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The Crowd Favorite Award: <\/strong>Best engagement rate based on the parameter of the highest visitors count with the longest duration captured with audience measurement technology deployed at iNYALA 2019 exhibition.<\/li>
  • The Best Inspiration Award: <\/strong>Concept, Originality, Creativity, Innovation and Relation to Key Theme \u201cImagine the Impossible\u201d.<\/li>
  • The Best Visual Appearance Award: <\/strong>\u200bQuality of Artwork, Visual Appearance, Installation Method and Overall Presentation<\/li>
  • The Best Use of Technology Award: <\/strong>Durability, Stability, Technology Application and Interactive Elements<\/li>
  • The Best of Show Award:<\/strong>\u200b Best score from all the criteria stated above Speaking at the closing ceremony, Founder of iNYALA, \u200bHelios Loo <\/strong>expressed his gratitude to all of iNYALA\u2019s partners for the past six months as well as media exposure and public\u2019s interest and visits throughout the entire exhibition month.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Helios added that \u201cIn the past 30 days, we set up audience measurement system around our exhibition space to study the user behaviour and to understand about the demographics of the visitors so that we can improve in future event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cTill the very last day, we have over 8,000 visitors, which 75% of them are below 30s and we are excited to know that more and more young generation are eager to join us to explore on this journey of inspiration with sustainability in mind. Besides, 15% of the visitors are foreigners, which we believe we are one step closer to bring the local talents\u2019 works to be seen on an international level, and we will continue to work on that!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On top of that, iNYALA is committed to sustainability efforts wherein the light art installations are integrated with energy efficiency elements and will only be powered up when there are interaction and engagement between the audience and the installations. iNYALA advocates for responsible consumption and production as a great concept and execution should always be infused with sustainability considerations on artwork\u2019s second life and innovative use of recycled materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In closing of the exhibition, iNYALA also organised a sustainability forum as a meaningful and impactful means to end the event. The panel discussion, \u2018From Green Building to Green Ideas\u2019 is organised in collaboration with \u200bthe UCSI School of Architecture & Built Environment, was moderated by \u200bLow Ngai Yuen <\/strong>\u200band featuring talks by renowned architects \u200bHuat Lim <\/strong>and \u200bChris Wong<\/strong>\u200b, and \u200bSutapa Bhattacharya<\/strong>\u200b, General Manager of Corporate Strategic Communications of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).<\/p>\n\n\n

    INYALA hopes to come back with a bigger, better and brighter exhibition in 2020 in search for the upcoming inspiring and innovative artists and designers in Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
